The Shopping List

2 May - 6 May, International Development Society are Living Below the Poverty Line. This means £1 a day........

My housemate and I, biggest foodies EVER, decided to take part. Can't quite remember why now....Oh yes, to raise awareness about the fact 1.4 billion people live below the line and to challenge ourselves in a very different way....

Sunday 1 May: Tescos, Kingston Park, 11.30am

We spend 2 HOURS in there picking items, calculating, putting items back, picking new ones, changing the semi-planned recipes, thinking of the logistics (lunch at home/uni/work) and when we think we've got it down to £10 we calculate again and we're £4 over!!!

ARGHHHHHHHHHH.

So we take away more items (huge bag of potatoes and the eggs and the greens) and finally..... we're down to £10:

Porridge oats
Carrots
Milk
Honey
Olive Oil (98p - most expensive)
Onions
Garlic
Sweet Potatoes
Bananas
Rice
Stock Cubes
Ginger (4p - cheapest!)
Choc Digestive
Cous Cous
Curry Powder
Cabbage
Value tomatoes
Kidney beans
Peaches
Tuna

Tomorrow will start the hard work.... let's see what we can create with these ingredients!
